Say it with Pride and Love   18th of August 2019 was a landmark day in my life when it just got upended. That was the day when I, along with my two daughters, met Laxmi Narayan Tripathi aka    ‘Lakshmi Ma’ . Till this day, I have not come across a person more powerful and more confident in her skin. I was at my friend's place where she was also supposed to join straight from the airport. The moment she stepped inside, it hummed in my heart, ‘Here cometh a force of nature.’ WHAT AN AURA ! Grand !, and Great! The room housed five people, but it echoed with the sound of only one. Her powerful voice pervaded the room and held everyone mesmerized. It was my maiden encounter with a personality of her ilk. My curiosity to know about her, from her, was killing me. I guess my face exposed that feeling and she began to narrate her story. Early in life, she realized that her predictions were different. But what helped her to build a strong edifice of her life were her parents. Her mot

REIGN OF RAINBOWS   Decades after Independence, India is still considered as a developing Country. While our nation is considering all possible means to crown itself as a developed country, but are Indians extending their hand to welcome the LGBTQ+ community? LGBTQ+ community has been brought to the limelight only in the past few years, until then individuals from this community were tight lipped as they feared discrimination in this society. This community is now been accepted from the major cities in India. Unfortunately, discrimination still lies in the rural areas as they believe that marriage is a holy union between two opposite sexes. The terms ‘sex’ and ‘gender’ are often used interchangeably, but these are whole different concepts altogether. Our first step to understand this community is to be mindful with the usage of the terms ‘sex’ and ‘gender’. All these years, transgender were referred to as other than male or female, now is the time to make it mainstream. Sex Edu
THE LGBT COMMUNITY   “The next time someone asks you why LGBT Pride marches exist or why Gay Pride Month is June tell them ‘A bisexual woman named Brenda Howard thought it should be.’” – Brenda Howard Brenda Howard is regarded as “Mother of Pride.” She was instrumental in organizing the primary ever Pride marches. This march became an important part of the fight for acceptance. Brenda was also one among the few activists to specialise in rights for those that identified as bisexual or polyamorous. Two groups that are often underrepresented in LGBTQ activism. Imagine having a secret, a secret which is so terrible that if you were to reveal it, your family, friends, neighbours and society would reject you. You will be treated as a diseases. What if you could tell them this secret? Would they judge you, would they reject you, would they abandon you? What if people heard your secret and still accepted you as a normal human being, they respect you for who you are ignoring this secret.
HYPOTHESIS OF LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender)   Homosexuality is an interdicted subject in Indian civil society. Homophobia is prevalent in India. Public discussion of homosexuality in India has been inhibited by the fact that sexuality in any form is rarely discussed openly. However in recent years, attitudes towards homosexuality have shifted slightly. In particular, homosexuality has become the controversial topic in the Indian news. Several organizations have expressed support for decriminalizing homosexuality in India, and pushed for tolerance and social equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people . Lacking support from family, society or police has led to many gay rape victims which hasn’t been reported as a crime .Because of these the mental, physical ,emotional and economic violence against LGBT community in India prevails. They have been sexually assaulted, harassed, blackmailed and extorted by the police, neighbors and even family members. The
Society that adapts grows   It was the first day of my college after the study break post high school exams. I was very excited to meet new friends. The campus looked attractive with different colored trees and buildings around. The campus was filled with students except that everyone dressed differently being college. Soon all the students were directed to their respective classes. The classrooms were huge and filled with students from different parts of the country. Every one of us was excited for the first day at college. Our day began with English class where the teacher greeted us with a smile. There was silence all around and we were asked to introduce ourselves. All the students started to introduce themselves and it was interesting to listen to new voices. But there was one person from the room who stole my attention and I found him to be very different from rest of us. The boy was very bold in his talk. He spoke several things about his likes and dislikes. He also added
She looked into my eyes and questioned: “Is this what I deserve?!”   ‘Welcome to the Pride month’- read the artistic poster of my college. At this point of time, the only thing that captured my attention was that colorful, self-explanatory rainbow. I ruffled through it, as I do with every poster or circular, with complete belief that I can’t contribute in anyway whatsoever, but wait!! There you see this beautiful word ‘essay’. It jerked my heart and my eyes dilated with hope. So, here I am with some of my encounters and tryst with the topic. My essay may sound like a casual conversation but I think that way it would be successful in touching the readers’ hearts and make some difference. Well, by now, we all must know what LGBTQIA+ stands for; however, I’ll mention it again for you: L-Lesbian, G-Gay, B-Bisexual, T-Transgender, Q-Queer, I-Intersex, A-Allies/Asexual. So, my first encounter with this world transpired when I was approximately 8 years old with a news channel repo
HAPPY PRIDE MONTH- PRIDE TRADITIONS.   PRIDE is an abbreviation for personal rights in defense and education. Social identities are relational; where groups typically define themselves in relation to others. This is solely because identity has little meaning without the “other”. So, can we ignore the “other” identity to examine the concept of identity as a whole? “Other” is the counterpart of “self”, and it means those who are neglected and situated at the margin of the power structure - society. The LGBT is a community by itself consisting of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender people. Identity is the cornerstone of all societies and it comprises the culture, beliefs, love, respect and the psychological orientation. Nowadays we are heading towards a world with an identity crisis because every individual is scared about letting out or talking about himself/herself. As they are scared of judgments, they are scared of how people would react about knowing the truth. But we a
LGBTQ+: Our Pride   The word ‘pride’ means a feeling of satisfaction from one’s achievements or, collectively, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated. The word ‘pride’ is an integral cultural concept within the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex (LGBTQI) community, representing solidarity, collectivity, and identity as well as resistance to discrimination and violence. Its associated symbolism-rainbow colors communicates to individuals that LGBTQI members are welcome as valuable members of the community. While PRIDE stands for Promote Respect, Inclusion, and Dignity for Everyone, Personal Rights in Defence and Education (PRIDE) was a gay political organization, established in 1966, as a radical gay political organization that from its origination set a new tone for gay political groups like the Gay Liberation Front (GLF), ACT UP and the Radical Faeries. PRIDE led aggressive, unapologetic, demonstrations against the oppression by the Los An
I WISH   A long time ago, I came across this beautiful yet tragic quote that said, “How scary is it to look at the one you love and realize there are two possible outcomes; forever or not” ~ Anonymous. A time when the term forever’s understanding was a little blur, when our hearts were a bit whole and not broken. Where we looked into the eyes of love, love that was everywhere disguised as friends, family and that last roll of cinnamon. But now it’s a lot more than scary and tragic because beautiful eyes are soaked in tears and hearts are shattered like glass ceilings were the depth of hurt is deeper than battle scares. Where these beautiful souls are hurt in pain and sorrow that they build walls that could trace an entire dimension all together and be in isolation the kind that brings you pain but peace at the same time. These angels! Sweet angels disguised in human form don’t get why they are so precious, that their existence on earth is a privilege to mank
